Local Authorities

With the onset of the LAT’s Scheme (Landfill Allowance Trading Scheme) and the strict targets imposed by central Government most Local Authorities will be looking at ways in which they can maximise their recycling and reprocessing, thus preventing materials going to Landfill.

One area that this can be achieved is by looking at the Civic Amenity Sites and providing training to staff to help them segregate and separate waste correctly.

In addition to this, many local authorities have at their disposal land and composting facilities, which with the right knowledge could see them recycling their own materials, preventing costly charges and cutting out the middleman.

Transport is an ever increasing cost to all businesses and therefore if materials can be processed on site or close by, huge cost savings will be available.
